Born in New York. Enlisted in the 111th New York Infantry for one year at Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company I the same day he enlisted. Wounded in action 31 Mar 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. Mustered out at Washington, DC. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio on 7 Aug 1871 and dropped on 12 Mar 1884. Re-admitted to the Home on 9 Apr 1884 and discharged at his own request on 30 Aug 1909. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington by reinstatement on 15 Jun 1912. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 20 Jan 1926 and discharged at his own request on 19 Aug 1926. Died at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
