Born at New York. He enlisted 3 Mar 1865 in the 1st Minnesota Infantry Battalion at Rosemount, Dakota County, Minnesota. Mustered in at Fort Snelling, Saint Paul, Minnesota, 8 Mar 1865. Mustered out with the battalion at Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana. After his service he returned to Rosemount, Minnesota where he farmed. By 1900 he was a resident of Lone Tree, Yakima County, Washington. He relocated to Prosser, Benton County, Washington by 1908 where he was a member of Maj. Johnson Post No. 114. He was elected by the post as a delegate to the 1909 Washington and Alaska Department Encampment.
