Born either 20 or 28 Jul 1845 in Westchester County, New York. A carpenter when he enlisted in the 45th New York Infantry to serve three years at New York city. Mustered in the same day as a Private in Company E. Appointed Musician (date not known). Transferred on 30 Jun 1865 to Company E, 58th New York Infantry. Mustered out with the company at Nashville, Tennessee. After the war he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. In 1883 he served as Post Commander. On 1 Nov 1905 he was admitted to the National Veterans Home at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California, and discharged at his own request on 16 Mar 1911. He was readmitted on 23 Dec 1913, where he died.
