Born at Tazewell County, Illinois. Single, a farmer and resident of Walnut Grove, Knox County, Illinois when he enlisted. Mustered in 25 Aug 1862 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Discharged for disability at Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa. After his service he remained in Illinois where he married Lamira Sharpe about 1866. By 1880 he was a resident of Lincoln, Calhoun County, Iowa where he farmed. He remained in Iowa until at least 1900 but by 1909 relocated to Prosser, Benton County, Washington where he continued farming. He was a member of Maj. Johnson Post No. 114 at Prosser and was selected as a delegate to the 1909 Department of Washington and Alaska Encampment. He died at Prosser, Washington.
