Cyrus Stoner was born in Indiana, son of Phillip and Elizabeth McWilliams Stoner. He married Marie E. Barnes Shaw in 1902 in Jones County, Iowa. He resided in Delaware County, Iowa at the time of enlistment at the age of 21 years of age.
He was a member of Nathan P. Gregg Post No. 127 of Hillyard, Spokane County, Washington.
