Born in Sweden. Enlisted in the 28th Michigan Infantry for three years at Houghton, Houghton County, Michigan. Mustered in as a Corporal in Company K on 17 Oct 1864. Mustered out at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Officer of the Day in 1917 and Senior Vice Commander in 1921. Died in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery. His death certificate lists his year of birth as 1843, contradicting both his pension records and Orting file. His military records list his last name as "Borgerson" and "Borgesson".
