Born in Illinois. A resident of Linn County, Iowa when he enlisted in the 44th Iowa Infantry for 100 days. Mustered in as a Private in Company F on 1 Jun 1864. Mustered out at Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Elected a Delegate to the 1915 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Died in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery. Cemetery records show he is buried in Block 125-126, Grave 10.
