Born in Carroll, Penobscot County, Maine. A resident of Presque Isle, Aroostook County, Maine when he enlisted in the 2nd Maine Cavalry for three years. Mustered in as Bugler for Company A at Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine on 30 Nov 1863. Mustered out and honorably discharged at Barrancas, Florida. By 1891 a member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. According to a newspaper article published on 30 May 1929, he was one of the 40 remaining members of Custer Post, which 20 years prior had a membership of more than 300. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 2 Oct 1924 and discharged at his own request on 29 May 1926. Died in Tacoma, Washington.
