Born in Knox County, Ohio. A resident of McLean, McLean County, Illinois when he enlisted in the 7th Illinois Infantry for three years at Atlanta, Logan County, Illinois. Mustered in as a Private in Company E at Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois on 23 Feb 1864. Mustered out at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. A Delegate to the 1914 Encampment of the Department of Washington and Alaska. In 1892 he was elected a Pierce County Commissioner. In 1896 he was first elected Mayor of Tacoma, he ended up serving as Mayor four times: 1896-1897, 1910-1911, 1914-1918, and 1922-1926. In Nov 1918 he was elected to the Washington State Senate representing the 29th District (part of Pierce County). In 1923 Fawcett St in Tacoma was named in his honor. Died at Greene Park, Fort Lewis, Pierce County, Washington. Some military records spell his last name as "Faucett".
