Born in Indiana. A resident of Ironton, Sauk County, Wisconsin when he enlisted in the 12th Wisconsin Infantry. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. He served the Post as Officer of the Day in 1888, Junior Vice Commander in 1889, and Post Commander in 1902. Died in Tacoma, Washington. His headstone and the 1900 U.S. Census indicate he was born in 1842, while his death record and obituary indicate that he was born in 1840.
