Born in Indiana. He enlisted in the 140th Indiana Infantry for one year at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. Mustered in as a Private in Company C the same day he enlisted. Mustered out at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Chaplain 1894, Junior Vice Commander in 1917 and Commander in 1918. Died in Tacoma, Washington.
