Born in New Jersey. Enlisted in the 67th Pennsylvania Infantry for three years in Warren County, New Jersey. Mustered in as a Private in Company H at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 16 Feb 1862. Re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer in Feb 1864. Promoted to Corporal (date unknown). Mustered out with his Company at Washington, DC. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. According to a newspaper article published on 30 May 1928, he was one of the 50 remaining members of Custer Post, which 19 years prior had a membership of more than 300. Died at the home of his son in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
