Born in Tippecanoe, Harrison County, Ohio. Enlisted in the 122nd Ohio Infantry for three years. Mustered in as a Private in Company D at Camp Zanesville, Ohio on 30 Sep 1862. Mustered out with his Company near Washington, DC. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. The available records show that he was admitted and discharged from the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington five times - the first was 26 Mar 1894 to 9 Feb 1895, then 8 Nov 1895 to 5 Mar 1896, followed by 27 Mar 1897 to 4 Jun 1898, then 20 Apr 1900 to 10 Sep 1900, and finally 17 Apr 1901 to 18 Oct 1901. Died at his home in Orting, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
