Born in Elbridge, Onondaga County, New York. Enlisted in the 1st Illinois Light Artillery for three years at Menekaunee, Marinette County, Wisconsin. Mustered in as a Corporal in Battery L at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on 22 Feb 1862. Was a prisoner of war (no details). Mustered out as a Sergeant at Chicago, Illinois. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 23 Apr 1910 by transfer. On 11 Oct 1916 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington. Died at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He is buried in a G.A.R. section of the cemetery.
