Born in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. A resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania when he enlisted in the 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Volunteers) for three years at Winchester, Tennessee. Mustered in as a Private in Company H at Nashville, Tennessee the same day he enlisted. Mustered out with his Company at Lexington, North Carolina. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Was first admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 10 Oct 1901. Would be re-admitted twice, first on 6 Sep 1902 and the second time on 9 May 1905. Discharged at his own request on 14 Dec 1905. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home Colony at Orting, Washington on 30 Jul 1909. Transferred to the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington on 29 Nov 1912 where he died.
