A resident of New Lisbon, Juneau County, Wisconsin when he enlisted in the 10th Independent Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery. Transferred to the 9th Independent Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery. Re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer. Mustered out with his Battery at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. A member of G. K. Warren Post No. 21 of North Yamhill, Yamhill County, Oregon. Served the Post as Quartermaster Sergeant in 1888, Junior Vice Commander in 1889, and Officer of the Day in 1890. Died at his son's home near Gaston, Washington County, Oregon.
