Born in Indiana. A resident of Hamilton County, Indiana when he enlisted in the 136th Indiana Infantry for 100 days. Mustered out at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. On 12 Sep 1893 he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Marion, Grant County, Indiana where he died. His government headstone and the Indiana Adjutant General's report indicates he served in Company D, while his compiled service records, pension records, national home register, and Custer Post rosters report that he served in Company B.
