Born in Australia. Enlisted in the 1st Oregon Infantry for three years at Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon. Mustered in as a Private in Company K at Fort Dalles, Oregon. From 19 Feb 1866 to Apr 1866 on detached service on the south fork of the John Day River, Oregon. Company K mustered out at Fort Vancouver, Washington Territory on 25 Jun 1866. A member of A. J. Smith Post No. 17 of Drain, Douglas County, Oregon. Served the Post as Junior Vice Commander in 1884. Later joined Geo. G. Sykes Post No. 28 of Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon as a charter member. Served the Post as Junior Vice Commander in 1884 and Senior Vice Commander in 1885. Died at Elkton, Oregon.
