Born in Oswego County, New York. A resident of Greenwood, Michigan when he enlisted in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry for three years at Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. Mustered in as a Private in Company G the same day he enlisted. Joined the Regiment at Rienzi, Mississippi on 8 Sep 1862. Discharged on a Surgeon's certificate of disability. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin on 11 Jan 1877, and discharged at his own request on 26 Dec 1877. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Died at Lemons Beach, Pierce County, Washington.
