Born in Sangamon County, Illinois. Enlisted in the 1st Oregon Infantry for one year at Dayton, Oregon. Mustered in as a Private in Company B at Salem, Oregon the same day he enlisted. 21 Dec-31 Dec 1864 sick in hospital at Camp Russell, Oregon. On 20 Jun 1865 detached service at Fort Boise, Idaho Territory. 22 Jun-31 Oct 1865 detached service Indian scout Camp Reed, Idaho Territory. Mustered out at the expiration of his term of service at Fort Vancouver, Washington Territory on 18 Dec 1865. A member of Donelson Post No. 26 of Sheridan, Yamhill County, Oregon. Served the Post as Officer of the Day in 1885. Died in Yamhill County, Oregon.
