Born in Indiana. A resident of Brownsville, Nemaha County, Nebraska Territory when he enlisted in Captain Johnson's Company, Missouri Horse Artillery for three years at St. Joseph, Missouri. Later became Company L, 1st Missouri State Militia Cavalry. Mustered in as a Teamster, with his own team of two horses, assigned to the Quartermaster Department at St. Joseph, Missouri on 13 Mar 1862. Mustered out as a Private at Warrensburg, Missouri on 14 Mar 1865. A member of Gen. Lyon Post No. 26 of Toledo, Lincoln County, Oregon. Served the Post as Junior Vice Commander in 1888. Died at Sandy, Clackamas County, Oregon. Military and pension records list his last name as "Huffman". Find a Grave # 6635958.
