Wounded at Averysboro, North Carolina on 16 Mar 1865. Regiment marched in Grand Review, Washington, DC on 24 May 1865. Mustered out on 20 Jun 1865. A member of A. J. Smith Post No. 17 of Drain, Douglas County, Oregon. Served the Post as Sergeant Major in 1884. Died in Santa Clara County, California. Some military records list his middle initial as "J", while other military records and his pension records list it as "I". Headstone very worn, nearly illegible, cracked near base.
