Born in Baden, Germany. Re-enlisted in Company I, 2nd U.S. Cavalry for three years at Camp Ives, Texas. Discharged to re-enlist at Light House Point, Virginia as 1st Sergeant on 10 Jul 1864. Re-enlisted in Company I, 5th U.S. Cavalry for three years at Light House Point, Virginia on 11 Jul 1864. Discharged to re-enlist at Morgantown, North Carolina as 1st Sergeant. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 27 Jul 1895 and discharged on 2 Oct 1895. He would be re-admitted to the Soldiers Home four times, the final time was 26 Apr 1910.
