Born in Maine. A resident of Grand Rapids, Wood County, Wisconsin when he enlisted in Company D, 5th Wisconsin Infantry as a Corporal. Received a severe wound in his left forearm on 3 May 1863 at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Discharged for disability. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Later joined Burnside Post No. 23 of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 19 Aug 1913 and discharged at his own request on 19 Sep 1913. Died in San Diego, California.
