Born in Tennessee. Enlisted in the 1st Independent Minnesota Light Artillery for three years at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mustered in as Undercook the same day he enlisted. Discharged at Washington, DC. After the war he enlisted in the 10th U.S. Cavalry, serving as Farrier of Troop A, from 1869 to 1874. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted on 19 Jan 1905 to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington where he died.
