Born in Virginia. A resident of Rockville, Parke County, Indiana when he enlisted in the 149th Indiana Infantry for one year at Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. Mustered in as a Private in Company I. Promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant and transferred to Field and Staff (F&S) on 24 Mar 1865. Mustered out at Nashville, Tennessee. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 27 Sep 1893 and was discharged to transfer to the National Home in Indiana on 11 Aug 1895. Admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Marion, Grant County, Indiana on 18 Aug 1895 and discharged on 15 May 1918. Died in Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana.
