Born in Liberty, Waldo County, Maine. A resident of Somerville, Lincoln County, Maine when he enlisted in the 32nd Maine Infantry for three years. Mustered in as a Private in Company I at Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine on 5 May 1864. He was missing in action on 30 Jul 1864. On 12 Dec 1864 he transferred to Company I, 31st Maine Infantry. Mustered out near Alexandria, Virginia. A member of Luther C. Ladd Post No. 17 of Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 2 May 1913. He died in Puyallup, Washington.
