Born in Ohio. A resident of Caledonia, Racine County, Wisconsin when he was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant of Company H. Promoted to Captain on 15 Apr 1863. Resigned his commission due to disability. Commissioned as Captain of Company K, 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery on 27 Sep 1864. Mustered out on 26 Jun 1865. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Served the Post as Junior Vice Commander in 1891, Senior Vice Commander in 1892, Commander in 1893, and Quartermaster Sergeant in 1907 and again in 1909. Died in Tacoma, Washington. His headstone incorrectly identifies he served in the 22nd Missouri State Militia Infantry, instead of the 22nd Wisconsin Infantry.
