Born in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio. Enlisted in the 142nd Ohio Infantry for 100 days. Mustered in as a Private in Company I at Camp Chase, Ohio on 13 May 1864. Mustered out with his Company at Camp Chase, Ohio. A member of Luther C. Ladd Post No. 17 of Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington. Served as Post Adjutant in 1923. According to his obituary, he was one of the two remaining members of the Ladd Post. Died in Puyallup, Washington.
