Born in Hudson, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. A resident of Scott, Brown County, Wisconsin when he enlisted in Company E, 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry as a Private. Mustered out at Austin, Texas. Joined Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington on 7 Aug 1909. Later he joined Luther C. Ladd Post No. 17 of Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington. On 16 Aug 1909 admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington and discharged on 6 Oct 1915. On 30 Dec 1923 admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California and discharged at his own request on 3 Feb 1925. Died at his home in Tacoma, Washington.
