Born in Cicero, Onondaga County, New York. Enlisted in the 185th New York Infantry for one year at Cicero, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company B at Syracuse, New York on 19 Sep 1864. Wounded in action at Quaker Road, Virginia on 29 Mar 1865 which resulted in the loss of his right leg at the knee. Absent, in hospital, when his Company mustered out on 30 May 1865. A member of A. J. Smith Post No. 17 of Drain, Douglas County, Oregon. Served the Post as Chaplain in 1884. Later joined Geo. G. Sykes Post No. 28 of Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon as a charter member. Served the Post as Commander in 1884 and Surgeon in 1885. Died in Beaverton, Washington County, Oregon. G.A.R. inscribed on his headstone.
